The Office of Tribal Affairs of the North East India Catholic Bishops' Council (NEIRBC) organized a Youth Formation Workshop from August 17–21, 2026, at the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) in Chumoukedima, near Dimapur, Nagaland.
The program brought together representatives from three regional dioceses: Miao (Arunachal Pradesh), Diphu (Assam), and Kohima (Nagaland). The primary resource person for the workshop was Fr. George Plathottam, SDB, Secretary of Regional Tribal Affairs for Northeast India.
Participation Breakdown: A total of 21 participants attended the workshop, accompanied by diocesan directors and religious leaders:
- Kohima Diocese (6 participants): Led by Fr. Lawrence Khing (Tribal Affairs Director) and Sr. Rita, MSMHC.
- Diphu Diocese (6 participants): Led by Fr. Dominic Teron (Tribal Affairs Director).
- Miao Diocese (9 participants): Led by Fr. M. Denis Khangham (Tribal Affairs Director).
Miao Diocese Delegation: The nine participants from the Diocese of Miao represented four distinct parishes:
1. Namsai Parish : Mr. Tage Tayeng & Ms. Yayi Paleng
2. Tezu Parish: Mr. Stivcris Ngadong
3. Borduria Parish: Mr. Tesen Tangjang & Ms. Chanop Khetey
4. Longding Parish: Ms. Phohi Wangpan, Mr. Puman Wangpan & Ms. Lihlem Wangsucha
Workshop Focus & Core Themes: The workshop centered on the holistic growth, empowerment, and development of tribal resources. Sessions were specifically designed around the theme: "Council for Tribal Affairs Youth Formation Program in Synodal Leadership, Ecological Stewardship, and Indigenous Values."
Through guided discussions, leadership sessions, and collaborative activities, the program proved to be deeply insightful, inspiring, and valuable for all the participating youth leaders as they prepare to serve their respective communities.
